Company profile
Iqbal Impex makes hand-finished bags, belts, wallets, travel goods and small leather goods, and supplies finished leather for export. It began in 1962 as a vegetable tannery behind a house on Bazaar Street.
01 / 06 — Who we are
A family company in its third generation. The founder, Haji Mohammed Iqbal, tanned goat and sheep skins for traders in Madras. His son Abdul Rahman renamed the business Iqbal Impex in 1986 and took it into export. His grandson Imran Iqbal leads it today.
Work is split across two units: the tannery, cutting and finished goods in Ambur, and small leather goods in Vaniyambadi. Leather that leaves the tannery goes either into our own pieces or to export customers as finished leather.
